Radiant Panels from Comyn Ching & Co - the market leader in radiant heating
- is providing the hygienic, low maintenance heating on another landmark
PFI hospital project, the James Cook University Hospital, part of the South
Tees Hospitals NHS Trust.
The James Cook University Hospital is a district general hospital serving 300,000 people living in Middlesbrough and East Cleveland. It is also a specialist centre for around one million people for heart and lung, cancer, and brain and spinal cord injuries and illnesses. A key part of the whole development has been the installation of 1,145 Solray Radiant Panels to meet the brief for a clean and modern hospital environment. At the James Cook University Hospital, as in all hospitals, the practice of ensuring the highest standards of hygiene, cleanliness and comfort are key priorities. Solray Radiant Panels have the key advantage of being installed within the ceiling, thus eliminating the bacteria and dirt ridden corners, ledges and joints of conventional wall radiators. In addition, the air quality for staff, patient and visitors is high, in part due to the reduced levels of dust movement generated by Radiant Panel heating compared to ordinary convective heating systems. At the same time, the maintenance team at the Hospital are benefiting from panels which feature a wipe clean surface for easy cleaning. Solray Radiant Panels are also enabling the Hospital to operate as efficiently as possible. They are discretely hidden as ceiling strips in each building, thus optimising the amount of wall and floor space that can be used by the hospital, whilst also achieving a clean-looking interior finish. Installed to meet the required heating performance specification for the project, the Solray Radiant Panels are running on a low temperature hot water heating circuit. They are designed for maximum energy efficiency and comfort levels, achieved through an optimised and even distribution of radiant heat. Solray Radiant Panel heating is now well proven and increasingly popular in hospital developments across the country. The James Cook University Hospital is one of many PFI projects featuring Solray Radiant Panels. Based on seven decades' experience, Solray Radiant Panels have developed high quality and efficient, cutting edge designs required by public sector and commercial applications. Radiant Panels can be tailor-made to the highest standards and manufactured to suit specific project requirements at the company's London-based design and production facility. |
