Discrete, ceiling installed Solray Radiant Panels from Comyn Ching & Co are providing the hygienic, low maintenance heating for the recently opened new four storey wing of the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary, Wigan. The extension of the Royal Albert Edward Infirmary is a £17 million government funded, two year project which has included renovation of old hospital facilities and construction of additional buildings to create a completely new hospital wing. This "Phase Four Build", covering over 17,500 m2, houses a new X-ray suite on the first floor, Accident and Emergency on the second floor, on the third floor a new Maternity Department and new Surgical Facilities on the fourth floor. Completed towards the end of 2004, the new wing features over 500 Solray Radiant Panels from Comyn Ching, the market leaders in the field, to provide clean and effective heating on all four floors. Solray Radiant panels are a modern, modular heating solution, providing an easy to install, comfortable and energy efficient alternative to radiators and other traditional forms of heating. Since the panels are installed in the ceiling, they free up the maximum amount of usable space below for the hospital. At the same time, they afford the hospital a clean, simple to maintain and aesthetically attractive heating solution. Solray Radiant Panels also create far less dust and air movement in their heating operation than ordinary convective heating systems, thus reducing potential discomfort and breathing difficulties for staff and patients alike. "Solray's radiant panels really stand out from the competition in terms of both quality of installation and performance of the panels" says Jason Cummings, Mechanical Engineer at Syncro. "I've always had a great relationship with Solray and I'd look no further than Solray when purchasing such products in the future." Already proven in thousands of new-build hospital and school projects, Solray Radiant Panels are renowned for their cleanliness, convenience and comfort. They are versatile enough for completely unobtrusive wall, floor or ceiling installation and can be used with low or medium temperature hot water systems, steam or electricity. They are quick and easy to fit, minimising the pipework runs, boxing, controls and other components that would normally be required. The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary is part of the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust. Syncro were the mechanical and electrical contractors for the Phase Four Build. Hoare Lea were the building services consultants. Originally developed by Comyn Ching more than 70 years ago, Solray Radiant Panels have evolved through the generations into highly efficient, state of the art designs. They can be tailor-made to the highest standards of quality and manufactured to suit specific project requirements at the company's London-based design and production facility. |
