MOJ Approved Prison Radiant Panels

Anti-ligature heating for safer cells from Solray

We’ve been at the forefront of radiant reading for over 70 years often providing bespoke heating solutions for bespoke environments.
Over the last 40 years, our skilled workforce have been manufacturing anti-ligature units for mental health units and prisons throughout the UK but in 2008, the Ministry of Justice set up the National Offender Management Service with a view to improving prison services and conditions for safer cell environments. In order to the meet the design criteria set out by the MOJ, our panels underwent some stringent testing and in 2009 we received official confirmation that our ceiling, wall & floor panels were approved.

We had a spare panel in the factory so we decided to perform and record our own in house testing on the panel using a 3mm thick bar and our enthusiastic factory worker who was more than happy to lend a hand! Take a look at the evidence…….

The panel took quite an onslaught from our team but withstood the heavy bombardment well as the before and after photos below show.
